Fancy text is made of special characters, not real fonts. Screen readers may read it badly, so keep it for decoration. Your text never leaves your browser, and the size slider changes the preview only.

How to Use the Square Text Generator in 3 Steps

  1. Type your text

Enter a name or a short phrase. Squared-letter styles turn each letter into a boxed capital, while frame styles keep your letters and add squares around the line.

  2. Choose letters or a frame

Squared Letters and Black Squares change the alphabet. Coloured square emoji sit on both sides of the line, and the text styles use hollow, solid or grid squares. Corner and block styles outline it like a small panel.

  3. Copy it and test it

Click a style to copy it, paste it where you need it and look at it on a phone. Squared letters come from a newer Unicode block, so an older device can show them as empty boxes.

How the Square Text Generator Works

There are two kinds of square style on this page. About two thirds use colourful square emoji, such as 🟥 🟧 🟨 🟩 🟦 🟪 ⬛ ⬜, placed before and after the line, between the letters or in place of the spaces. The rest are black-and-white text styles: squared letters that replace each letter with a single boxed character, and frames of squares and corner marks that take the colour of your text. All of them are plain Unicode, so they paste into a chat, a bio or a document without any image or special font.

The Square Families

  • Single-colour frames: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Brown, Black and White Square Frames put one coloured block on each side of the line.
  • Palette rows: Rainbow, Sunset, Ocean, Forest, Candy, Night and Warm Blocks build a short row of different colours on the left and the same row reversed on the right.
  • Game and pixel looks: Game Boy Blocks, Black and White Blocks and Pixel Aliens give a retro, game-like feel.
  • Boxes and objects: Gift Boxes, Package Boxes, Brick Wall and Lucky Dice use box-shaped emoji instead of flat squares.
  • Between letters and words: The joiner styles place a coloured square between every letter, and the word styles replace each space with a block.
  • Squared letters: Squared With Frame, Squared Spaced and Black Squares Spaced turn each letter into a boxed capital, and Bold Boxed does the same with a bold alphabet.
  • Text squares: Solid, Hollow, Grid, Plus, Half and Square in Square Frames, Checker, Block Steps and the corner marks are black-and-white symbols that follow your text colour.

Picking a Square Style

For a bio line or a caption, coloured blocks are the quickest way to add a splash of colour and draw the eye. For a name or a short title, squared letters give the strongest shape, but they are the least forgiving on older devices. If you only want a subtle accent, Solid Squares or Hollow Squares beside normal text are hard to get wrong.

Things to Know Before You Paste

  • Square emoji are drawn by each phone's emoji font, so the exact shade of red, orange or purple differs a little between devices.
  • Squared letters cover the 26 Latin letters and the digits. Accented letters and other alphabets stay as they are.
  • Keep square styles for short text. A whole paragraph of boxed letters is slow to read and hard for screen readers to follow.

If you prefer circles to squares, open the Bubble Text Generator. The Bracket Text Generator wraps each letter in brackets and corner boxes, and the Wide Text Generator adds space around letters instead of boxes.

Square Text Generator FAQ

What is the difference between squared letters and square brackets?

Squared letters such as 🄰🄱🄲 are single characters with the box drawn into the glyph. Square brackets are ordinary punctuation placed around each letter. The first looks like a tile, the second like a label, and only the first changes the alphabet.

Why do my squared letters show up as empty boxes?

Squared Latin letters sit in a newer Unicode block. A phone or computer without a font that covers it draws a placeholder box. Updating the system, or choosing the frame styles that rely on older symbols, usually solves it.

Are the black squared letters emoji?

Four of them, A, B, O and P, have emoji versions that some phones draw in colour, while the rest stay black and white, so a word can look mixed. The hollow squared letters do not have this problem.

Can I put a square box around a whole sentence?

The Heavy and Round corner styles put corner marks at the start and end of a line. A full four-sided box needs several lines, so these styles outline one line instead.

Which square style suits a gaming name?

Rainbow Blocks, Black Square Frame and Squared With Frame keep a strong shape and still read well. Check the rules of the game first, because many games block rare symbols in usernames.

Does the boxed-letter style work in other languages?

No. It maps only the 26 Latin letters and the digits. Other alphabets stay as they are, so a mixed word may be only half boxed.
